Dr. Mahesh Bhargava Promoter & Founder (M.A., M.Ed., Ph.D.)
Dr. Mahesh Bhargava (15th Feb, 1947 - 30th August, 2023) was a distinguished figure in the fields of Behavioral and Educational Sciences in India. He held various significant positions in approximately 50 professional bodies, including serving as the President of the Indian Psychometrics & Educational Research Association (IPERA), Patna, and the Praachi Psycho-cultural Research Association, Meerut. Additionally, he was the Vice President of the World Science Congress, Kolkata, and served as the Sectional President of the Indian Science Congress in 2005. Dr. Bhargava also took on roles such as Vice President, General Secretary, Treasurer, and Executive Member in numerous associations and socio-cultural organizations. He was appointed as a member of the Hindi Salahakar Samiti of the Ministry of Power, Government of India, by the Bhasha Vibhag of the Home Ministry.
Dr. Bhargava was a renowned psychologist, a respected educationist, and a sensitive poet and author. His work focused on addressing human suffering and improving the quality of life. He was an accomplished editor, associated with around 15 journals and magazines, and edited approximately 36 books containing various articles in both Hindi and English. As an author, he wrote around 54 books, including textbooks, reference books, general, and inspirational books, widely read by scholars and intellectuals. In total, he prepared 90 books that are used by university students and have gone through multiple editions. He also developed around 15 transparencies and CDs for lectures on complex topics and created about 16 psychological tools beneficial for social sciences research. As a researcher, he published approximately 275 articles, empirical papers, and reviews in various journals. He attended around 200 conferences, seminars, and workshops across different states in India and organized more than 140 academic programs independently.
To promote academic, research, and guidance services in behavioral, social, and educational sciences, Dr. Bhargava established the Harprasad Institute of Behavioural Studies (HIBS) and Samadhan Kendra. He made significant contributions to socio-national development and the application of psychology across various sectors, including schools, the corporate sector, hospitals, sports, and the army, through the establishment of the National Psychological Corporation in 1971. This organization has published, produced, and marketed over 1100 psychological tests under India's "Make in India" initiative, providing cost-effective and contextually relevant alternatives to foreign tests.
Dr. Bhargava received approximately 85 honors, awards, appreciations, and titles equivalent to degrees from numerous esteemed institutions, universities, and prestigious associations across the country. He was known for his high sense of humanity, integrity, honesty, and dignity, and he guided and supported many individuals in their professional journeys.
